Sunday Salon: Watching Twice Blessed (1945)

Twice Blessed is a 1945 movie about identical twins switching places and trying to get their divorced parents back together. The movie stars Lee Wilde and Lyn Wilde as Terry Turner and Stephanie Hale. The mom (Gail Patrick) is an oh-so-famous, oh-so-glamorous lecturer (child expert/psychologist) who is currently dating another man in the spotlight, a senator, John Pringle. The dad (Preston Foster) is a reporter whose own love life has some complications. He's still in love with his ex-wife. The movie begins when Mary Hale and her oh-so-smart, oh-so-responsible daughter, Stephanie Hale, come to town. Arrangements are made so that Mary can see her jitterbug-crazy daughter, Terry, and Jeff can see Stephanie. Turns out these two sisters envy each other quite a bit, what would happen if they switched, not permanently, of course, but just for a few days?

I liked this one. I definitely liked it.

Watch Twice Blessed
  • If you're fortunate to find it on TV; I can't see that it's available on DVD
  • If you're interested in twins and twin stories (like The Parent Trap)
  • If you like black and white movies, romantic comedies to be exact
  • If you like swing dancing or jitterbugging

Oh so cute! It's been way too long since I'm snuggled down in front of a good classic.

This would have been just the thing this weekend. Sort of the movie version of a Malt Shop book! I'll have to see if I can find it anywhere, and then read DuJardin's Pam and Penny books!
