Themed Reading Challenge 2008

I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about the Themed Reading Challenge. But I have finally come up with a theme that I am more than happy with...Beverly Cleary.

I am going to try to read and review EVERY Cleary book I can get my hands on. Some I have already--childhood copies--and, of course, I'll see what the library has to offer as well.

I know I probably can't manage all of these, but here is her bibliography according to Wikipedia:

Wow, that's going to be a lot of reading! I've read most of them at various stages of my life, except the picture books and her autobiography, and I really look forward to your reviews. I never did like Ramona, even as a kid. Henry Huggins was, and still is, my favourite. I noticed you were missing her 3 "Leave It to Beaver" books. Here's a list that has them listed

Thanks, Nicola. That's why I'm sometimes skeptical of wikipedia! I do appreciate the link, I'll have to see if I can track those down somewhere. I know I don't own those.

I am going to try my best to see if I can find audio books of at least some of these to read alongside the books. I think it would be fun to see how they're done.

You have got to be the most brave challenge participant I've ever met! LOL! I'm in awe at the amount of books you read! This is great though. I remember Beverly Cleary from when I was younger. Me and my sister used to read a lot of her books. Have fun reading these! Great idea :)

I don't know that I'm all that brave. My philosophy is that if I already own it or if my library has a copy that I'll make a point of reading it so I can blog about it. It will be great to revisit Cleary in the upcoming year. I probably haven't read most of these since '90 or '91. So it will be interesting to see if I read them differently as an adult of if they're still magical.

I've read vast quantities of Beverly Cleary, and my favourite--besides the Ramona books, which I adore--is The Luckiest Girl. It's as sappy as it can be, but it's just so sweet that I can't help but love it. You're going to enjoy that challenge!

Hi Becky,
I saw someone mention a challenge that I thought they said you were hosting. And it wasn't the OSC challenge (that's yours, right?) but I can't remember what it was, and I'm not 100% sure it was you. This is probably the flakiest comment you ever got, but what other challenges are you hosting, if any?
